Technology and Beer Become Best Friends

2017: turn around any corner and you will find a craft brewery. That was not the case in 1996 when Coronado Brewing, Company opened their doors in San Diego County, California. Celebrating their 21st year in the business, they decided to try a different style of marketing for their new beer CoastWise Session IPA. With Thinfilm’s new NFC technology, they created a new type of coaster that, when tapped with a mobile phone, the user would be re-directed to a landing page. This innovative approach drove up Coronado’s conversion rates by 17.5 percent. The campaign was so successful that they plan to use their remaining coasters to direct users to their ecommerce page, to raise sales of the beer.
